Aneurin was born silently into the world on 31st July 2015 at 1.03pm weighing 5lb 11oz at 34 weeks gestation. He had dark hair, big feet and the softest skin I've ever touched. We found out at 26 weeks that he had Downs syndrome and further tests revealed a congenital heart defect and an oesophageal atresia, both of which would require surgery and lengthy neonatal stay. It took a while to wrap our heads around what lay ahead but we could not wait to meet our son and give him the best possible start to his life. However, despite knowing he was so poorly, we never imagined we wouldn't get to bring our baby home.
9 babies are stillborn every day in the UK and 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Tommy's fund vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth and provide support to families at all stages during pregnancy and following a loss. They work tirelessly to help save babies' lives and hopefully by helping to fund their incredible research fewer families will have live with the pain of losing their child.
