Can we make it to Lyon by half term?
At this time of year The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) would be welcoming French friends from Cité Scolaire Rene Pellet, and students would have visited them later in Lyon as part of the Erasmus research project.
Obviously it can't happen this year but staff and students have decided to travel to Lyon virtually, with a bit of leg-power.
Participants are asked to take a daily walk, run or cycle and then submit a record of the kilometres they have covered that day. The daily cumulative total will take us along the 1154 kilometre route to Lyon, from Hereford.
Can we do it by half term Friday, 22 May?
I will be Marika's sighted guide and we aim to do our bit by doing the minimum of a 5 mile walk per day between now and the end of term.
The temporary closure of both the College and thePoint4 leisure facility has had a dramatic effect on RNC's fundraising ability, so if you are able to make a donation or sponsor me and Marika we would be truly grateful.
RNC is an amazing place to work and really does change the lives of visually impaired young people. Students gain independence, education, employment and empowerment. We're very lucky to have this national college on our doorstep.
