This year I will be running the Great North Run and Edinburgh Half Marathon with some amazing other runners in "Team Sam" for my chosen charity Tiny Lives.

Tiny Lives is a fantastic charity that supports families of babies requiring special care. My beautiful nephew Sam Lee arrived 13 weeks early weighing just 2lb 8oz on July 23rd 2012 and required special care until October 1st. Sam spent his early weeks in the fantastic care of the special care baby units in Sunderland Royal and the RVI in Newcastle. Tiny Lives supported my brave family at this extremely challenging time and we are all so grateful for the care, love and support they gave to Sam.

Sam showed the true spirit and courage we knew he would and grows healthier every day thanks to the brilliant care he received in his very early start. 

Sam encompasses my running motto "Determination is everything" and inspires me every day. I'll carry him with me every step of my running in 2013.
