Charity Registration No. 1150379

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page and please help me raise money to end FGM. Unless we all take action now over 30 million girls will undergo FGM in the next 10 years. That is one girl every 10 seconds. Together we can change this and end FGM.

I am running the Brighton marathon to help a project which supports the amazing efforts of young people in Kenya to secure the future of their community and end harmful practices like female genital mutilation (FGM). Every pound donated will help 28 Too Many deliver training and equipment to schools as well as to a community centre and health clinic in a remote area in Laikipia.

In February I took part in an amazing project with volunteers from 28 Too Many and Cricket Without Boundaries, working together with the Maasai Cricket Warriors using cricket as a way to bring a community together and support girls' and women's empowerment and an end to FGM. As you may have seen from the project blogs (http://www.28toomany.org/blog/), the project was a great success and over 1750 children were coached and 24 young people/adults trained to be ongoing coaches and ambassadors for change. As well as strong commitment from the young people in this community to end FGM, there is also support from the local Chief and Elders which give us great hope that despite the challenges FGM will end in this community.

It is important that we continue to offer support so that the change that has begun becomes unstoppable. Therefore we want to raise money so that we can plan further projects with Maasai Cricket Warriors and provide more training and educaiton to the schools and community centres in Laikipia.

This is a great cause to support local efforts to protect girls and break the cycle of FGM. Please help 28 Too Many in their work to ensure no more girls suffer FGM.
