Story
I have realised that none of us truly understand what the different forms of Dementia actually mean. It is so much more than being forgetful and for those affected, it is a scary place to be.
I've no idea how long my mum has been suffering as she hid it all so well (as they do!). However, we are now on a journey that won't get better so being distracted with this challenge somehow helps. The pain I will go through in training for this event is nothing compared to the pain my mum and dad go through on a daily basis now. Caring for a loved one, as my dad does, is both heart breaking and frustrating.
My goal is to raise as much money and awareness as possible so that treatment and maybe a cure can be found. Dementia research is seriously underfunded and yet we are ALL likely to have family members in the future affected by it.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day they find a cure, they are set to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME. xxx
