Story

Whilst in Kenya I will be working in the community
supporting young women and girls claim their rights, including access to Education,
Health Services, Sexual Health Services and other Safety Net Services. I will
be working to create awareness on gender inequality, social inclusion and
facilitating community dialogues on inclusive education and child protection.

Young women and girls involved in the program will learn
life skills that can help prevent teenage pregnancy, reduce early marriages, and
reduce the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. They will
also develop employability skills, entrepreneurship and access to scholarship schemes
as well as learning how education can improve their lives and their communities.

Supporting entire communities through this process and creating
sustainable education programs for girls, to peruse alternative, economic activities
will help reduce negative practices such as child marriage and even female
circumcision.

I am raising money for VSO to help support the work they do overseas and programs they create for people like myself to make a difference. Any donations, big or small are greatly appreciated and will help me on my way to my £800 target.

About the charity

VSO is an international development organisation that brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday, VSO volunteers are working to empower people living in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.
