Story

Hi again,

I have now completed my challenge. I ran 87 miles in 21 hours, 19 mins, swam, I think 22 miles but in all probability much more taking 20 hours 44 mins and then cycled the concluding 187 miles to eventually arrive in Paris in a grand total time of 85 hours 56 mins.

There have been 14 people who have attempted it so far, I am the 5th to have succeeded and the youngest. If not for the extreme conditions in the channel for the swim, I would have most likely cracked the record which stands at 81 hours 5 mins, held by Eddie Ette so I missed it by a mere 5 hours, but it still makes mine the 2nd quickest time.

If you would like to see the full account of my epic adventure, you can find it on Blake's website - www.blakehartley.com - on the left hand side of the first page - Arch to Arc and also there are many more photographs up on Facebook - again under Arch to Arc.

I am still hoping to reach my target of £10,000 so any help in that department will be very gratefully received, it is still not too late to sponsor me.

Thank you very much indeed to everyone who has given already, it is much appreciated as was all the help and assistance I received from my support team during the challenge.

Very best regards,

Tom

On the 5th of September 2008 I am going to try to break the current world record of running the Enduroman Arch to Arc Triathlon. Which only 4 people have ever completed.

This is the one of the World's most gruelling and most challenging SOLO Endurance Event  The challenge starts at Marble Arch in London where I will run 87 miles to Dover, swim across the English Channel, then cycle 180 miles from Calais to Paris where the challenge finishes at the Arc de Triomphe.

This is not only for charity but in memory of my late cousin Blake Hartley who went missing for 3 years and who's body was recently found.

He went missing in France 2004 on his birthday so this challenge is close to my heart.

"To succeed... you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you."

Blake is my motivation.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Missing People will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Tom
