Story

Hi, I’m John Ashe, the Archdeacon of Lynn, raising money again for the Air Ambulance and the Church in Norfolk by organising a sponsored walk or run.  You are most welcome to join us – you can walk or run your own distance (from about two miles up to 10 miles).

The event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 5 May 2014, starting at 11 am, to raise money for these two excellent causes in Norfolk and across East Anglia, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and your local Church in the Diocese of Norwich

This year, we have again been generously given access to one of Norfolk’s beautiful country estates which is not normally open to the public.  Mrs Adel MacNicol has kindly offered the use of the Stody Estate (NR24 2ER) which is close to Briston and about 4 miles south of Holt.  The course will take us through the extensive water gardens when the azaleas and rhododendrons should be in flower.  As a bonus to all participants, Mrs MacNicol is also offering half-price entry to her gardens which open to the public on certain days during the azalea and rhododendron season.

Money raised will be divided equally between the two causes (your sponsorship via this page will go to the “Diocese of Norwich” and we will then send half to the Air Ambulance).

As last year, the half of the money you raise (or give by way of sponsorship) which supports the church will be credited to your local church’s “Parish Share”.  All you need to do when sending in your money is to give us the name of your parish in the Diocese of Norwich (if sponsoring us online via this website, add the name of your parish to the comment you will be invited to leave at the end of the process) and we will do the rest, ensuring that your local church benefits from what you give.

As last year, your Youth Group is invited to join in and, if you give the name of your youth group when you register, then the money you raise will be shared between the Air Ambulance and your own Youth Group to boost its funds.

Anew feature for 2014 is that the event will also incorporate a race between the Diocese of Norwich and the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.  The first six runners from each diocese to complete 10 miles will score points; let me know if you would like to be part of our team

If you can't join us on the day, please sponsor me on this page and, if you put the name of your parish in your comment, we'll ensure that half supports your own local church or youth group.

Cheques to “Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance” may be sent to John Ashe, Archdeacon of Lynn, Holly Tree House, Whitwell Road, Sparham, Norwich NR9 5PN

Or you can text your donation by sending ARCH44 followed by the amount you want to give (eg ARCH44 £10) to 70070.

Over the past 3 years we have raised over £55,000.  A fantastic achievement on which to build in 2014.  Every life-saving flight by the Air Ambulance costs over £2500.

Entry is £10 per person or per family group.

On the day, registration begins at 10 am with the run/walk starting at 11 am.
