In 2019 my Nan, Mollie Southway, passed away from Motor Neurone Disease. She was only diagnosed a few years earlier. Living in Toronto, I didn't see the daily decline in her physical abilities. This is a terrible disease as it strips you from being physically able to eat, dress, wash, drink, and speak, but leaves the mind in tact so you have full awareness of what is going on and what you are no longer able to do. Towards the end of her life, she spent time at Treetops with my Grandpop as they learned to cope with what was happening to them, and unfortunately was was inevitably coming. After her passing, Treetops named their MND support group after her -

My Grandpop, John Southway, turns 90 in January and is doing amazingly well living on his own after more than 65 years of marriage. He would have frequently visited Treetops if it wasn't for the current situation. Happy 90th. 

Being stuck at home in one of the multiple lockdowns, I have recently purchased an exercise bike. I am aiming to cycle the 3467 miles from Toronto to Nottingham by the end of 2021. Hopefully the bike arrives soon so I can spread the miles out!
