I'm a very average runner who'd always wanted to complete a Marathon, but had never quite made it. Two previous attempts had ended in injury and this year was going to be my third attempt at The Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Having heard about people running crazy distances on balconies, in living rooms and gardens, the seed was planted. As much as I'd tried, I hadn’t been able the shake the thought from my head, so on the 26th April, the same day as I was due to be running in Stratford, I attempted to complete a Marathon in my garden. It involved 1393 laps of a 30.3 metre loop to complete the 26.2 miles or 42.2km Marathon distance. I’m happy to say I completed the Marathon in 4 hours 47 minutes.
