Story

The challenge is to run 7 marathons in 7 days Barefoot Style at various locations in the south of England.

190 miles up and down the hills

You’re all probably thinking why? Well as some of you
may know I have 4 children and 3 of them have asthma, it's not there fault
its me I had severe childhood asthma as a kid, however I grew out of it when I
was 7 years old. To this date the only one out of the 3 who has suffered quite
badly with it is my son Jude, over the years he's been in and out of hospital
and we've had to call 999 on numerous occasions.

A couple of years ago Jude was rushed into hospital,
this time it was a little more serious, the resuscitation team did a fantastic
job of bringing Jude's oxygen levels under control, Jude went on to spend 7
days in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Southampton General.

Jude is really well now and we are extremely grateful to
everyone that has helped over the years gone by.

The New Year is all about finding new challenges and
reflecting on what you have to be grateful for; so we thought up this challenge
as a way to and raise money for the HDU at Southampton General. The goal is to raise X amount, so that we can
purchase equipment for the HDU, enabling them to help and improve lives.

 What’s this all about?

What made the team think running 7 marathons in 7 days,
one barefoot, is a good idea?

1 marathon is a big challenge for most people, but
anyone who knows the team, knows they are all keen runners, so we thought how
can we make this mean more?   That’s when the idea of running 7 marathons
in 7 days came up.

But, for one team member this didn’t seem enough, so a
few helpful friends suggested Andy should also run ‘bare-foot’, to make this a
really brutal challenge and hopefully, one really worth getting behind.
Does running bare-foot make a difference?  - it really does,
on Andy’s first training run he only made 2.2 miles bare-foot and walked like
the ‘tin-man’ for days after.

This challenge really will stretch Andy, Dylan and Haig;
none of them have run 2 consecutive marathons, let alone 7.
