We care for veterans in crisis to restore independence and dignity.

Story

In January 2017 I was homeless, was hopelessly addicted to drugs and couldn't see any way out apart from suicide. As soon as Veterans Aid heard about me I was brought straight to the H.Q in London. They didn't judge me just offered me a cup of tea and something to eat. Someone went and brought me some new clothes and I was put up in a hotel. It was surreal I had dealt with other military charities before but never treated so quickly and with such dignity. Veterans Aid paid for me to go into detox and rehab then paid for me to go to college. I was offered a flat and they furnished it totally for me. With their help my life has totally changed. I started off as a volunteer and now work with great pride for them.

The Great Outdoors Challenge is an annual event held in Scotland. I will be hiking from the West coast to the East coast starting from Shielbridge travelling across the Cairngorms Mountain range and finishing in Montrose. I will be carrying all my own kit and wild camping all the way. My route is about 190 miles with lots of ascents and descents.

I want to raise as much as possible so we can continue helping veterans in crisis.
