Story
Beating the bounds is a centuries-old tradition, aimed at reminding everyone of boundaries that were important in their lives. During Rogationtide - the fifth week after Easter - villagers with the Rector and other locals would walk the parish bounds. The children would carry willow wands to beat the boundary markers. Today the parish boundaries are not so important and modern maps show them clearly enough but do you know where our boundaries lie?
The Leckhampstead PCC is planning to bring the tradition back to life and "beat the bounds" of Leckhampstead. Due to covid restrictions we are all walking at different days/times, but each member would love a walking partner to join them. Please get in touch with a PCC member if you would like to join us or feel free to walk around yourselves.
The distance is 6.5miles and will take around 2.5 hours to complete. You can complete it over a week or a weekend - its entirely up to you!
The boundaries can be found in a map on our website: www.stjamespcc.com/fundraising
