Story

On the 1st of April 2017 I am having a 5-year celebration and fundraiser for the Bubble Foundation. This night will include a formal, Las Vegas themed night, with casino tables and show girls for entertainment.

This charity is very close to my heart; as on the 30th of December 2011, I went to the doctors with a cold and later that day I had a phone call asking me to go to the RVI for my blood results. By 9 o clock that night I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), at only 17 years of age.

After 3 rounds of chemotherapy I was told that my already aggressive cancer had now become more aggressive as I had a flt 3 chromosome too. This meant that my chemotherapy would never be able to get me into remission and therefore I would
have to have a bone marrow transplant.

After taking a special chemotherapy tablet I was eventually in remission and on the 4th of April 2012 I had my bone marrow transplant. My donor was a 23-year-old American man and thank fully ever since I have been 100% donor and my cancer has not returned.

On the 4th of April 2017 I, will finally be known as ALL CLEAR and no longer just ‘in remission’.

The Bubble foundation is a very special charity as it provides the rooms in which people go into when having their bone marrow transplants. They not only provide these rooms for people with blood cancers like myself but also for children with immune disorders, such as; SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency).

All the money raised on the 1st of April will be donated to the Bubble Foundation to ensure that the beds and ward are open for when children need bone marrow transplants. It is critical that when children are in remission they have their transplant with such a small window of opportunity. Any money raised for this charity will make a big difference and could potentially SAVE
another life.
