Story
Free Wheel North is a enclosed safe friendly easy accessible environment which helps people of all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy cycling, even when they have been told they shouldn’t ride a bike, or told they can’t ride a bike. We know the physical and mental health benefits of cycling, and enable people to experience that for themselves. From our dedicated disability track at Glasgow Green, our group rides from Glasgow Green and the White House in Maryhill, to helping both adults and children learn how to go a bike in the first place, we help people to get out and cycle. we spoke to service users and asked what they enjoyed about adapter bikes they said the friendly familiar helpful fun staff will always go out there way to help you ,also how they make things fun for service users and their families and support staff. They enjoy the outdoor exercise , as it lifts service users moods and increases their wellbeing, and they look forward to their outing. Freewheel are struggling due to covid and need funding for things like maintenance on bikes ,helps towards funding for new staff ,also utilities and overheads. We all would agree that everyone is experiencing hard times, please help this worthwhile charity as its one of a kind in glasgow and the service users and families and care staff benefit greatly from this fantastic service. We dont want to loose another service that is so beneficial to our community.
Thank you
