After raising an amazing £5079 for the Great North Children's Hospital we are not to be deterred and our fundraising continues. We are now concentrating our efforts on raising much needed funds for the children's oncology wards 4 and 14 based at the Great North Children's Hospital!!!
Here is Isabella's story. . .
In May 2018 Bella was diagnosed with a Germinoma, a form of brain cancer, after having a number of health difficulties for some time. Bellas tumour is attached to her pituitary gland which has also caused her to have Multiple Pituitary Hormone Deficiency which in essence means her thyroid, growth hormone and cortisol production are severely compromised. Alongside this she also has diabetes insipidus.
This diagnosis came as a major shock but Bella has taken everything in her stride. She has been amazing whilst undergoing scans, blood tests, lumber punctures, a biopsy on her tumour, taking several different medications a day and finally starting her chemotherapy. Bella is undergoing 4 rounds of chemo followed by 30 sessions of radiotherapy. It is believed Bella is the youngest child in the North East region to have this type of cancer.
Throughout her treatment, Bella will be tirelessly looked after by the dedicated staff of ward 4 and 14. Alongside some of the countries best medical clinicians Bella will also have access to play therapies, the hospital school, library and the nurses magic cupboard which includes all sorts of goodies like Chemo Duck and Beads of Courage. By supporting us to raise £4000 for wards 4 & 14 it is hoped we can help the Children’s Cancer Fund to continue providing the best care possible for Bella and lots of other boys and girls who may need it.
Bella really is our very own Wonder Woman - with a little Warrior Princess and Bionic Woman thrown in for good measure. Please support us to do something amazing in her honour, she really is our inspiration x
