Story

In June 2013, Nicola and myself met an incredible couple at the new parents day at our daughters' school. Right from the start we had a connection with both Mandy and Greg and Tallulah and Eva soon became inseparable. They are like sisters to each other and over the years our friendship with Mandy and Greg has developed into a strong bond, where we regard them as true friends. Nicola sees Mandy and they have their girlie chats and I saw Greg on the golf course, where we would put the world to rights. I will never forget meeting up with them in Puerto Portals, a place that was special to all of us. We had been going there for years and maybe our paths crossed in the harbour as years had gone by but for Mandy's birthday in 2014 we met up in the harbour for a meal and several drinks. The photos we took on that night, will stay in our memories forever.

We heard in July 2015 that Greg had got a tumour in his abdomen. This was devastating news for us, as how can a close friend be hit by this disease and you can't do anything to help. Weeks went by and several visits to the hospital saw my friend trying to recover from this horrendous operation. Several complications meant that they didn't have the recovery they were hoping for.

It was upon finding out that Greg's cancer was terminal that it made me think that I wanted to take on a challenge, not only to raise money to find a cure for this horrendous illness but also to make Greg proud of me. He has been an inspiration to me throughout his illness. His bravery and courage have been incredible but I am very proud to have known a person, who has displayed such a strong character throughout this tough time. He has inspired me to be a better person, by the strength he has shown and I want to keep running to bring awareness to people about this disease.

I always feel Greg's presence by my side when I run and I want to do give something back to him. I will do my upmost to achieve my goals and raise valuable money for the Royal Marsden Hospital, Greg's chosen charity. Hopefully in time, other people will be spared the pain and suffering that Greg has had to go through. Greg is a role model for others to follow and will always be a true friend to us.

Sadly on Sunday 7th February, Greg lost his fight to this horrible disease so I will do everything to be there and support Mandy and Eva through these tough times and repay the incredible friendship, Greg has given me.

The more money we raise, the quicker we can find a cure for this deadly disease. The Royal Marsden Hospital tried so hard to cure Greg, but the cancer was just too strong. They have helped another of our friends, Kat Vitou, and they will start next week to treat a close school friend of ours.

PLEASE help me to stop this disease from affecting others, by donating as much as you can. Every penny and Every pound counts.

It is really simple to do, please follow the instructions and also click gift aid if you can.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your continued support.

Love Ben x
