In November last year vcgh club mate Richard Collin’s son Dan tragically lost his fight against cancer. A number of Richard's friends who have ridden with Richard over the years are undertaking a cycling challenge to raise funds and awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The Trust provided exceptional clinical support for Dan Collin and a great deal of support for Richard.
We want to raise as much as possible for the Teenage Charity Trust. The Teen Cancer Unit at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield provided unfailing care and support to Dan Collin as he battled cancer.
Anything we can raise will make a difference for a teenager who is being supported by the Trust.
I will be riding from Haslemere to Sheffield and back over the weekend of 12/13th July. This is a bit far for a solo ride so I will be riding half of the distance each day - approximately 180km a day and 360km for the weekend, though the more donations the more I'll be compelled to stay on the bike!
The Teenage Cancer Trust do a fantastic job. Generally the NHS supports the very young and older patients well - teenagers aren't so well supported (because they are generally fit and well). The Teenage Cancer Trust provide fantastic specialist support for the unlucky few teenagers and their families that do unfortunately get ill.
Any small contribution would be really appreciated!
Many thanks
Ben
