As you may or may not know I have a chronic bowel disease called Crohn's Disease. Ever since my diagnosis 6 years ago I have struggled through the tough times and enjoyed the good. Helping me along the way was my wonderful wife, sticking by me through everything.

 

When I was first diagnosed I had never heard of this disease. Luckily a great Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) specialist nurse was on hand to point me over to Crohn’s and Colitis UK (aka NACC).

 

Crohn’s and Colitis UK has now become a major part of my life. I volunteer with my local group, Leicestershire and Rutland.

 

We hold a bike ride and walk every year to help raise funds for the local group. Helping the group to put on special events for everyone affected by an IBD as well as sending out regular newsletters and holding great educational meetings.

Now, the challenge

 

Not only has Suzi not ridden a bike for over a decade, she will be joining me in a 25 mile bike ride on a hired tandem.

 

We will be attempting to cycle the entire circumference of Rutland water, including the very pretty peninsula. To add that extra bit of a challenge (As if 25 miles on a tandem isn't enough) we will be dressed in our onesies.
