Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Although we did not know Danny personally, throughout his illness and treatment we ran regularly with his gorgeous, funny wife Kerry. She was always positive and never complained despite it being a very difficult time for them all as a family. We feel this is a very worthy cause and would like to donate all monies raised to the charity which Danny set up prior to his death, we hope you feel this is a worthy cause and will support us.
This is Dannys story...
For two decades, Dan was the driving force for the development of sport and physical activity at Sheffield Hallam. He was inspirational to all at Hallam and The University of Sheffield with everything he did, especially to rugby union who have held numerous charity events for the foundation over the past few years.
Sadly, he recently passed away after a strong battle with numerous cancers. After his first diagnosis, Dan set up the Danny Porter Foundation raising over £250k for good causes. In 2016, he was honoured with an MBE for services to Education and Fundraising.
The Foundation provides donations and grants to other charities providing research, support, care and equipment to people suffering from cancer and/or requiring neurological surgery. It also exists to share Danny’s experience to help others through their own experience with cancer. The Foundation will help patients whose friends and family are struggling to provide the support they would like due to their personal circumstances.
