Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We have decide to try and raise some funds for a few Premature baby charities, (HertsPrems (WGH SCBU), Great Ormandy Street, Bliss and Tommy's) ... Because of our experience and shockingly it's not completely funded by the Government, and all 4 of these organisations run on partly or all on public donations and fund raising.

Here is a short reason why...

It's a special moment when a new baby is born and the feeling can not be described but special turns to scary when they are born early or sick.

As Cyra(6), Rylan(4) and Kaylan(1) arrived into the world before they were meant to, we can say it's not the easiest situation to be in, stress is just not the right word....

The NICU can be a very scary place especially for the first time, but it doesn't get any less scary by the 3rd. Seeing your baby attached to all sorts of machines and wires and tubes all over the place almost makes looking at your baby feel like a bad dream, and that they don't really belong to you.... The feeling of complete helplessness is sometimes overwhelming as all you want to do as a parent is to hold and love the little "thing" that is in the glass box but at the same time too baldy scared of hurting your previous innocent little baby.

There are all kinds of possibilities going through your mind when machines beep and alarms keep going off because baby has "forgotten" to breath and to help these tiny little beings learn the simple life task of suck swallow and breath action that term babies already have. After all the medical jargon that most parents don't understand we ask if baby has made progress, that feeling when the doctor or the nurse says yes baby is doing well the emotion is enough to rock your world.

But the big question that all parents ask, "When can we take our baby home? " And as every nurse or doctor in the NICU will say expect them to come home around their due date, and every baby grows and develops at their own pace.

And only once you have been there do you realise how scary things can get, and having a premature baby is one of the scariest things a family can go through. The support needed from first time parents or for a additional siblings, life can get very hard.

But due to the wonderful work of all the nurses, parent supporter staff and doctors my children are happy and thriving.

Unfortunately these services are not fully funded by the NHS and needs valuable funds to keep the service going and this is why we aim to raise money and awareness for these much needed services provided.

Prematurity is here to stay...and Miracles are happening second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, month by month .... in affect the hard work of our local NICU made certain they make every bit of effort beyond professionals boundaries ... our premies are here to live the tale.....be it 1 in 4 .. we count our blessings hour by hour...hence a box of chocolate is just not enough...help us raise funds for a very needed cause.
