We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Everybody remembers exactly where they were the moment somebody they love told them they have cancer.

When our amazing Mum told us she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in March 2014, along with the sadness and anger, the most overwhelming feeling was helplessness.

With pride and determination we watched her face up to the many challenges of her treatment and shared her relief when we were told the treatment had been successful.

We decided then to convert our feelings of helplessness into action, to try and help others by supporting Cancer Research UK in its mission to prevent, control and cure cancers like the ovarian cancer that affected our Mum.

This is why on April 17th, we will travel to Scotland and climb Ben Nevis. We'll then cycle to Scafell Pike in the Lake District, reach the top on foot, come back down and cycle to Snowdonia in Wales. Once we've climbed Snowdon, we'll come back down, jump on the bikes, cycle to London. And on April 26th, we'll run the London Marathon.

After much deliberation the route is now as follows:

Friday 17th: Climb Ben Nevis / Cycle to Crianlarich - DONE
Saturday 18th: Crianlarich to Sanquar - DONE
Sunday 19th: Sanquar to Keswick
Monday 20th: Keswick to Ambleside / Climb Scafell Pike / Scafell Pike to Bolton le Sands
Tuesday 21st: Bolton le Sands to Northop
Wednesday 22nd: Northop to Snowdon / Climb Snowdown / Snowdon to Llanberis
Thursday 23rd: Llanberis to Chelmarsh
Friday 24th: Chelmarsh to Culham
Saturday 25th: Culham to London
Sunday 26th: London Marathon

10 days. Three peaks. 700 miles of cycling. A 26.2 mile marathon. And then a few beers (no need to sponsor these).

To our knowledge, this has never been done before in the time and this may be for good reason! If you could donate just five pounds to the cause and share this page with as many people as possible, we would be massively grateful.

We've also both got places on the RideLondon 100 which is a 100 mile, one day race taking place on August 2nd. For both events, we'll continue to try to raise money for Cancer Research.

People who are diagnosed with serious illnesses like Mum's cancer have no choice but to get on with it so we wanted to undertake a sufficiently difficult and gruelling challenge to both reflect and celebrate our Mum's incredible strength and determination.

Thanks so much for reading and wish us luck. We're going to need it!
