30-day Bikram Yoga challenge · 17 March 2015

We offer free and confidential, specialist support to all survivors aged 12 and over in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian. Who have experienced sexual violence at any time. We also work to prevent sexual violence and advocate for change. Donate today or fundraise and make a difference.

Story

I have been doing this 30-day challenge just as a personal motivation trick. Along the way people have asked me if I was fundraising for any charity, and I have been saying "no, it's just for myself". But then I thought, you know what, if I could raise money at the same time as accomplishing something for my own self, then that's doubling the benefit!

For those of you who don't know, Bikram yoga consists of a 26-posture series plus two breathing exercises, practiced in a heated room over 90 minutes. So as well as being a hardcore physical and mental exercise, it also requires me to find the time to practice, between going to work and being a mum, every single day for 30 consecutive days. So yes, it is called a Challenge for a good reason.

EWRASAC, or Edinburgh Women's Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, is a fantastic charity that provides free support and information services for survivors of sexual violence. The sad truth is that there are a lot of survivors that rely on help from organisations such as EWRASAC to face and come out of horrible things that have happened to them; the sadder truth is that EWRASAC is facing a huge cut in funding, which may mean that some or a lot of the services currently available to the survivors will have to be discontinued. Every little donation you make here can help this fabulous charity continue their vital work.

Thanks for visiting my page, and thanks for helping me complete the challenge for EWRASAC. Namaste!
