Story
I am cycling for 6 days across the West Bank to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)
MAP is a charity that works to enable all Palestinians to access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare. I know the money raised will be put to good use as MAP have been delivering healthcare in the region for 30 years. They specifically reach out to Palestinian communities affected by conflict, occupation and displacement.
I previously cycled the Norwich 50 and the money I raised was for MAP. I decided I wanted to do more. This cycle will be a personal challenge as well as a political and visual statement in support of and within the communities, towns and villages of Palestine. Needless to say I am very excited and focused on my cycle training and raising as much money as I can for MAP. I am a professional health practitioner and want to feel I have the power to change something. The provision of health care is a fundamental right, not a privilege.
The cycle route will take me from Jenin in the North of Palestine's West Bank to Hebron in the South passing through Jericho, Bethlehem and ultimately reaching Jerusalem. It will be tough, but I am determined to make a positive difference. Thank you for your support!
