Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

Blair was born in September 2009 and shortly after was diagnosed with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS. He spent a long time in hospital and finally had his first night at home in April 2010.  The afternoon tea is to celebrate 10 years from that first night.

Tickets are £5 (Suggested donation) for afternoon tea. Prosecco & wine available for a small additional donation.

We will also be holding a raffle and will update you with some great prizes soon.

Hope to see you there

Thanks Gail

Blair's Story

I was born on 29th September 2009 and soon after diagnosed with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS), which means that I need support from a ventilator to help me breath, and Hirschsprung's disease which is often associated with CCHS, which arises when certain nerve cells in the gut (called ganglion cells) fail to develop and mature correctly. The result is a section of bowel that is essentially paralyzed.) Following two operations this has now been surgically corrected.

I was in Yorkhill for a long-time after I was born, for a while I would come home during the day and then started getting some overnight stays and was delighted when I was finally discharged in the summer of 2010.

Since then I have grown lots and am now doing all the things you would expect.  In August 2014 I started at Broomhill School and I am loving working hard and playing all my friends.  I love playing with my brothers, cousins and friends and generally always have a big smile on my face :-)

I am still a regular at The hospital, mostly for outpatient appointments but without the dedication and support of all the staff there I would not be the little boy I am today.

Everyone at Yorkhill and the Children’s Hospital have provided amazing Support both when I was an in-patient over the years since I’ve been home. We have also met lots of really amazing kids and families during our time at in hospital  and so want to raise funds to say thank you and to help all the other babies and boys and girls who need to spend time at Hospital, especially the other kids that need ventilators when they finally go home, like me.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Big thanks,

Blair
