Story

Scaynes Hill Cricket Club have recently commissioned a second cricket ground, near Freshfields, right next to the Railway. We covered a report by the Worthing Herald in May which asked if this was now the most picturesque cricket ground in Sussex. As editor of the Railway's eNewsletter, and a former (social) player, this encouraged me to appeal for a Bluebell Railway Cricket XI (the first ever?) to play the Club in a social match.

Both Bluebell and Scaynes Hill CC are also keen to do a bit of fundraising. Bluebell has secured £300 in match funding, and the first 30 donations to this page of £10 or over will be matched by £10 from this fund. There will also be joint fundraising taking place, and we are planning a series of activities on the day. we are encouraging supporters of both sides to attend - Keep watching the Bluebell eNewsletter for updates.....

About the charity

The Bluebell Railway Trust's "Funding for the Future" campaign is urgently raising funds to help preserve our infrastructure and unique collection of steam locomotives and rolling stock. Our main appeals at present are Accessible Steam Heritage, Cash for Cover and Keep up the Pressure.
