MASSIVE NEWS UPDATE

I'm sure you're all aware by now that this year has been a bit different.  Due to everything that's going on, the Great North Run 2020 has been cancelled.

However, I do not want to let this effect my fund raising for the amazing Special Effect.  So I'm doubling my efforts.  Not only am I now going to run in next year's Great North Run 2021, I'm also going to run the Great North Run Solo 2020 AND the Special Effect Virtual 10k which is on 5th July.

The GNR Solo is a virtual replacement for the main event.  It consists of having to run 40 runs in 78 days (that slightly more than one run every 2 days maths fans!), but I'm also looking to hit the 100 miles target to get a bronze medal.  As much as I'd like to push myself and hit the 200 miles target, I don't think my body will allow that!!

So please, continue to support my daft running ambitions (which are totally exhausting me by the way!!!), I will keep this page open until the Great North Run Solo 2020 is finished.  Let's try and make this an amazing year for Special Effect.

ORIGINAL POST - I hate running. I can't do it. I get bored. My hip, knee and back have all been broken or battered in some way.  I'm pretty much dead from the belly button down. So what better way to raise money for the amazing work at SpecialEffect than put myself through hell and back.

I don't know quite how I'll get to the finish line, be it run, walk or crawl, but it's a challenge I'm willing to see through to the end, even if it kills me (chances are quite high).  I'll keep this page updated with my training progress up to the run, so you can see what the chances of me finishing are.

Please help me support SpecialEffect - you can find out more about them below...

SpecialEffect enables severely disabled people to use technology in any way possible – using whichever part(s) of their body that work best – by adapting tech to their individual needs. It’s so important they can join in with family/ friends, to be includes and not left out. This can hugely benefit mental well-being, self-esteem and quality of life -and much needed FUN!

We specialise in Eye Control Technology. Imagine: You wake up after an accident. You can’t move anything except your eyes. You can’t speak. Through eye-movement alone, we help people operate a computer so they can communicate and regain a little independence – giving them a voice when hey don’t have one of their own.
