Kiota is a kitchen table UK charity, working with KIWOHEDE, a Tanzanian organisation working for the rights, health and development of women and children in Tanzania. Kiota was co-founded in 2003, and the Brown family and friends have supported ever since.
Bonfire nights at the Browns have supported young women in Tanzania in the past through water and building projects. In 2010, Kiota and our partners KIWOHEDE started a secondary education pilot for young people who couldn't access school otherwise. We are currently supporting the education of 126 students at the KIWOHEDE Open School. As well as providing secondary education, the school aims to prevent early marriage, unwanted pregnancy, child prostitution, dangerous child labour and gang involvement, and targets those most at risk of abuse and hazardous labour. Since 2017, Italian NGO We World have match funded the school.
We invite you to celebrate our achievements with us this November, and donate to our work if you can.
