Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure

We bring disability sports to Bradford to achieve equality through sport

Charity Registration No. 1014622

Story

In Bradford, we run a disability cycling hub which is a collaboration between Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, the Bradford Youth Service and Choices 4 All at the University of Bradford Union of Students.

We promote inclusive cycling where disabled and non-disabled people cycle together.

We strongly believe that disability should not stop people from taking part in cycling activities.

Every two years, there has been a bicycle ride between Bradford and it's twin town of Hamm in Germany. In 2017, for the first time, we are taking a full contingency of our disbled and non-disabled club members.

The ride is over 450 km and this will be a real challenge with riders using hand cycles, tricycles, tag-alongs and wheelchair transporter bikes.

Disabilities of the riders include cerebral palsy, autism, impaired mobility and learning disabilities.

The ride will cost approximately £20,000 to cover transport, accommodation, a new wheelchair transporter bike, specialist equipment, running the bike hub and to take the Yorkshire and Humberside Cycling Team to the Special Olympics National Games in Sheffield in 2017.

Please help and support this challenge.
