Story

This one year old ragdoll cat was found in a carrier wrapped in a bin bag by a member of the public who was on their way to a school run in Chatham on Friday 24th January. Named Artex by the rescuers, this young cat was in terrible pain and very traumatised; his eye was missing and the eye socket was open and untreated.

The Cats Protection team at Bredhurst Adoption Centre have worked with vets to ensure that he is receiving pain relief, antibiotics and veterinary care. He has also had his first flea and worming treatment and we hope he is now a little more comfortable. In the near future he will need to have surgery to his eye socket to clean it and stitch it up. Artex will also be placed with an experienced adopter to help him recover from the trauma and begin the road to recovery. At the moment, he is very scared of human contact and he’s not comfortable with a lot of handling.

We don’t know how Artex lost his eye or came to be abandoned, but Cats Protection will now make sure that he is well cared for, receives the medical treatment he needs and is given every chance for a full recovery. This will take many months and will likely cost Bredhurst Adoption Centre in excess of £700 If you can help us to help Artex, we’d be grateful for any donations you can give.

Cats Protection does not receive government funding and relies on the donations of kind supporters. Any funds raised above and beyond our target will be used to help other cats and kittens in care at our Bredhurst Adoption Centre.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Visit www.cats.org.uk to learn more.
