Thank you for taking the time to read all about our fundraising event 😘 

During our club night at the Queenshilling on 08/03/2019 a group of panthers will be having their heads shaved at midnight on stage to raise money for Maggies! All monies donated on this just giving page goes direct to Maggies charity! 

The Bristol City Panthers are an lgtbt+ Football club based in Bristol . But we are more than just that. We are a family who support, love and stand with each other through thick and thin. 

Our Chris is a massive part of the Panthers history and a source of constant inspiration for us all and we love and support him through this journey! 

Chris has a life limiting cancer diagnosis and we stand with him and want to raise as much money as we can for a charity close to his and our hearts.

I asked Chris to tell me what Maggies meant to him...

“I first attended Maggie’s after being told of my life limiting cancer diagnosis. When I walked into the building a private room was already booked, my family were waiting for me along with a trained Maggie’s professional. The idea that I was in a safe place to break the news was just the beginning of the journey.

I have now had brain surgery, 30 session of radiotherapy, seven and a half months of chemotheropy, taken over 2500 tablets, had to learn to read, write, talk and understand. I couldn’t even tell the time and course all my hair fell out too. This was one of the hardest parts, clumps of hair in the sink, on my bedding and in my hands.

Maggie’s have been an absolutely incredible help throughout. Maggie’s provide a wide range of support from practical information, how to tell your diagnosis and prognosis to your friends and family, meditation sessions, counselling, how to eat well with cancer, how to feel good, yoga sessions, financial advice and a lot more. Its an all-round offering where nothing is too much for the trained staff and volunteers. For quite sometime this is the only place I felt human.

In a world where I have been told ‘you can’t do…’ over and over, Maggie’s taught me that there is a life limiting cancer and the techniques to ensure I get the most out of every situation. I believe in Maggie’s so much that when I am well enough I am giving my time (my most precious commodity) to volunteer at one of their centres.
