Story
In true Brown family tradition, a few too many Christmas beers led to some ambitious ideas. After an intoxicated sign up, on the 18th of September Nick, Katie and Dom will be taking part in the Weymouth IRONMAN 70.3.
This challenge begins with a 1.9km swim (1.2 mile), followed by a 90km bike (56 mile) and finishes with a half marathon – an event the younger two of the group have never participated in before.
Although the competition is on and training underway, we would love to use this event as an opportunity to raise some money for a small charity close to our hearts.
First Steps ED is a mental health charity, working to improve the lives of and support people of all ages impacted by eating disorders and poor mental health. The stigma surrounding eating disorders and mental health illness has improved in recent years however there is still a long road ahead in terms of understanding and tackling these illnesses.
First Steps are a charity dedicated and passionate about raising awareness for early and better treatment. They work to deliver training, counselling and group support services to individuals and families who are suffering with eating disorders and personally, have supported us as a family during ‘our hour of need.’
Post-pandemic, these services are stretched more than ever, therefore
fundraising is essential so that they can continue to provide support and education to anyone affected by eating disorders and co-morbid mental health illness.
More can be found about the amazing work they do in the link below.
We are looking forward to the challenge and would love your support for this worthwhile cause. All contributions are greatly appreciated.
Lastly, if anyone will be in the area and would like to join the cheerleading team (or see Nick in his tri-suit!) then please do contact one of us.
