Story
On Saturday 19th June I am cycling 200 miles in one day,
setting off at 04.30 am from Newcastle and hopefully finishing in Ayr before sunset at 10pm, climbing two and a half times the height of Ben Nevis in the process. Training has involved plenty of 8-10 hour rides in the saddle though rain, hail and luckily some sun as well!
The charity I will be supporting is Pans Pandas UK. PANS PANDAS is inflammation of the brain triggered by a Virus causing debilitating symptoms including:- OCD, Regression, Motor & Vocal Tics, Eating Disorders & Anxiety. It is estimated to effect 1 in 200 children/young adults and seems to be rising with Covid. So as you can see it is not rare just rarely diagnosed at present. My best friend's daughter developed PANDAS after Glandular Fever & Strep throat 3 years ago, thankfully she is improving but the family had to go private 18 months ago to receive a diagnosis and treatment.
PANS PANDAS UK's mission is to ensure a speedy diagnosis on
the NHS and effective treatment. They aim to educate the medical community as well as offering support to families affected by PANS PANDAS.I’m hoping to raise awareness of the condition and raise funds for the charity to help other families who are desperately suffering. Any amount of money you can donate would be hugely appreciated, please share with as many people as possible.
PS I've started it off with a £25 donation direct to the charity hence showing here as an off line donation. Honest!! HAPPY DONATING!
