Story

Tigers are amazing creatures, but all of the subspecies of tiger are at risk from habitat loss and poaching. Of particular concern is the Sumatran tiger, the smallest suriving subspecies of tiger, and the last to survive of the tigers that live in the Indonesian archipelago. There could be as few as 300 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, and they will not survive without support.

Now, some bright spark at the Zoological Society of London noticed that the collective noun for a group of tigers is a 'streak'. And given that there are only around 300 Sumatran tigers left, what better way to highlight the issue and get support for ZSL's work with tigers than to get 300 humans to streak around London Zoo to raise money and awareness.

I am going to be one of those humans. Now I know that my legs are on public display daily, and I suspect that most of my climbing friends are familiar with the sight of my bare chest, but getting completely nekkid in public is going to be a new experience for me, and I have to confess that I'm a little nervous.

Also, just to up the stakes a bit, I have a fundraising goal. If I raise more than £500, I'm not just going to run around London Zoo naked. I'm going to run around London Zoo covered (entirely and only) in tiger body paint. Entertaining (and legal!) suggestions for what to do in the unlikely case that I get to £1000 will be entertained. :-)

Anyway, tigers are awesome, the ZSL does excellent work with them (and in many other ways), and I'm going to get my kit off, and possibly get painted as a tiger. If any or all of those things appeal to you (!), then make a donation.
