Story
On 30th October 2015, our son Cameron died after a severe allergic reaction, during our half term break in Italy. Whilst ordering his lunch and making the waitress aware of his allergy to dairy products, our warnings were ignored, precautions were not taken and without our knowledge our son was given food containing cheese. Cameron collapsed shortly after and died 3 days later in Naples.
Whilst Cameron has suffered from a dairy allergy since birth, we never imagined that one day we could lose him to it.
Cameron was full of energy and had a huge spark for life, and to look at him, you would never know that an allergy could bring about this much sadness.
Allergies are not seen as a disability. However having an allergy can change your life, and unfortunately it is sometimes not taken seriously. Especially within the food industry: restaurants and takeaways.
The pain we feel through losing Cameron at 7 years old, in this way, is not something we would wish anyone to feel, and so we are now working with Allergy UK to ensure that allergies are given the important attention it needs, and to help support children, parents, teachers and others when it comes to dealing with allergies.
