The Way of St James
800km up and down from St Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela in western Spain. This pilgrimage has been walked for centuries and is now the most popular christian pilgrim route in the world, having historical and spiritual significance. Nowadays many walk the route "because it's there".
Around 300,000 walk part of the route each year. We are walking the whole of the Camino Frances, taking us through Pamplona, Logroño,
Burgos, Leon and Sarria, ending at the Santiago Cathedral where St. James is entombed.
We will carry all our equipment in our rucksacks, staying overnight in pilgrim hostels and albergues. We may treat ourselves on the odd day off along the route.
Dementia is an illness close to our hearts and Dementia UK is a well worthy cause
