On 31st May, staff and carers from Carers Hub Lambeth will be joining hundreds of others on the Carers Thames Walk, completing a 9 mile circular walk from Southwark Cathedral.
Julie, Sarah, Louise, Floyd, Michelle, Sylvie & Awa are fundraising for Carers Hub Lambeth. The funds raised will go towards supporting carers in Lambeth and organising some much needed breaks and outings. For many, caring is an ongoing, full-time, intensive role and opportunities are limited for those caring to pause and take time for themselves. Funds raised will help Carers Hub to make this happen.
The walk aims to raise the profile of carers and celebrate the work that they do, as well as raising funds for local carers organisations. There are 750,000 carers in London and it's estimated that 60% of people will become carers at some point in their life.
Many people might not think of themselves as a carer but there are thousands of husbands, wives, parents, siblings, sons, daughters, friends and neighbours throughout the UK providing unpaid and unrecognised support and care to loved ones, in many cases 24/7. We're walking to acknowledge these hidden heroes and to raise funds to support them.
All donations, no matter how small, will be very gratefully recieved.
