Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. This is achieved through our three aims - rehoming, neutering and education
The Cornwall Adoption Centre helps around 500 hundred cats per year mainly through rehoming and neutering. Each cat rehomed by the Cats Protection can cost on average of £130 as every cat and kitten Is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. This doesn't include any additional work required such as dental work or the less common procedures, such as removing Popeye's eye (pictured) last year after severe trauma. This is not reflected in our £50 adoption fee, and the adoption centre's veterinary bills are always in excess of £2000.
This year we are running a year long appeal that will be regularly updated both here and our Facebook page, documenting the work carried out at the Cornwall Adoption Centre and some of the more strange or rare cases we encounter. Cat welfare is our main priority, and although not every story will have a happy ending Cats Protection will never put a healthy cat to sleep.
Keep checking in with this page, or like us on Facebook to trace a year in the life of the Cat's Protection Cornwall Adoption Centre, and please give what you can when you can so that we may continue to do the vital work we do.
