Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After putting my riding on hold and spending years of supporting Charlotte and Jack with their riding, at lessons, pony club and competitions I've decided it's time to have ago at a competition myself and challenge myself to take part in a BE80 (dressage, showjumping and cross country all in one day!) at Little Downham on Saturday the 30th of September-eek!!  and at the same time raise money for a very worthy cause. The Wobbleberry challenge was set up in memory of Hannah Francis a young eventer who lost her fight to bone cancer.
#kickingcancersbutt

Cancer has had a devastating effect on my life after losing my dear father to this dreadful disease, I have also many friends and family members who have fought and won, and also fought and lost, to this awful disease. Some are currently still fighting. Together we can raise the funds to make a difference to families fighting cancer. This is my way of going out of my comfort zone, putting myself out there. Originally I was going to be riding a little pony, most of you will have heard all about him.. Pumpkin, he is a very special little pony to us all, but unfortunately BE rules state he is too small to compete in this competition, hence Percy will be standing in for him now. I shall no doubt make a complete idiot of myself (I really should sell tickets for you to come and watch, it will no doubt be very entertaining!!), competing against more experienced riders and their steeds! I'm prepared to do it if it helps the cause.

The Wobbleberry challenge is a group of out of shape and/or riding style mums (well I can say this all about myself - I need some serious work!!) doing this together and probably completely embarrassing our children in the process.

For those of you that are not aware I injured myself last year and I have spent over the past year and a half having endless hospital visits (they did at one point think I had a tumor) so not only will this be a real challenge remembering a dressage test, showjumping and cross country course.. I will be dealing with a dysfunctional arm and hand.. My injury is to the radial nerve, which affected my neck, shoulder, whole arm and hand (yes I don't do things halfhearted!). I don't think anyone's arm would have been strong enough to have dealt with 20 stone falling on it (very unfortunate accident). Not that I intend to let that stop me! Thankfully I know a lot of really great physios and am finally getting there and at least they can get me patched up as and when needed!!
