Dear Family & Friends,

Thanks for taking the time to learn about my first expedition with Her Planet Earth to support UN Women UK.

I will trek 80km for eight days through Iceland's dramatic landscapes. I will cross lava fields, rivers, waterfalls, glaciers and spouting geysers. I will also camp and sleep in tents (never done before!) in an environmental-friendly manner. It will be the opportunity to leave my comfort zone and push my limits in an effort to rally support for a cause.

My expedition is entirely self-funded, which means that 100% of the funds raised here will go to UN Women UK.

My goal is to increase awareness about our Nature's beauty and the importance to preserve it. It's also the opportunity to raise funds for programmes that empower and educate underprivileged women affected by climate change in rural areas of Asia (Bangladesh, Nepal and Vietnam). Indeed, those three countries are severely and directly affected by climate change: storms, flooding, drought, land salinisation, etc.

Examples of how your donations could help:

- USD50 could provide a series of leadership and self-esteem workshops for women and girls to give them the skills and confidence to respond to these climate risks and challenges.

- USD500 could help set up a livelihood project that empowers women business leaders in agriculture to manage their business in at-risk areas.

- USD1,000 could allow UN Women UK to work with Governments to develop disaster recovery strategies and national disaster management planning.
