Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be taking on this challenge in October to raise funds for Caudwell Children.

From 6th-7th of October, I will be spending two days in the saddle and taking on this challenge to cycle 247km from Cassis tackling undulating French landscapes, taking in the views along beautiful coastlines and accomplish challenging climbs before reaching the magnificent Monte Carlo.

I am raising funds for Caudwell Children, who provide family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children and their families across the UK. They also run an Enable Sport programme for talented disabled athletes and a Destination Dreams holiday for children fighting life-threatening conditions.

Passionate, positive and practical, we are motivated to improve the lives of the estimated 770,000 disabled children living in the UK, starting with the 400,000 living in or on the margins of poverty.

The cause of helping desperately ill children, whose families cannot afford or get the help they so desperately need anywhere else, is so very close to my heart and has been for 20 years. Without our ongoing support and passion, and without help from you, their lives would be much less enriched, much more difficult and, in some cases, they simply would not be able to survive day to day.

This year I was the main donor to the building of our new Autism Centre, "The Caudwell International Children's Centre" (CICC). This is Britain's first independent centre dedicated to autism diagnosis, therapy and research, and I continue to pay all the administrative expenses associated with the day to day running of the Charity. This makes us totally unique and means that every pound you donate goes directly to helping children.

Together, we can improve so many more children's lives and enable them to reach their full potential!

I really hope you feel you can help us in some way, no matter how big or small, by pledging your support.

How will your donation help a child?

£20,000 to provide a unique, stand to sit wheelchair that could replace up to 8 other pieces of equipment and offer freedom to a disabled child.

Children like Shaye who is 16 and has Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, he's outgrown his existing wheelchair and is often in pain which means he cannot concentrate in school. A new chair would help him enjoy going to school again.

£10,000 would give a child fighting a life threatening illness and their family a Destination Dreams Holiday of a lifetime.

Lily-Mai is 7 years old, she's had problems with her heart since she was only 8 days old. She spends a lot of time at the doctors and in hospital and finds it hard to go outside because people stare. Caudwell Children are taking Lily-Mai to Disneyland where she's excited to meet the princesses from the television and dress up just like them!

£5000 could provide a child with a detailed multi-disciplinary autism assessment at the Caudwell International Children's Centre and dedicated support for 12 months to help them understand and manage their unique challenges; improving family well being and giving them back some control over their lives.

£2000 to provide a therapy tricycle for a disabled child, allowing them to socialise with friends and benefit from essential physiotherapy

Maisie received a tricycle from Caudwell Children. Maisie cannot walk independently and her mum has to carry her or use her wheelchair. But, since receiving a tricycle from Caudwell Children she has mastered riding her trike by herself, a huge milestone and mum is now excited for Maisie's future! There are lots of children like Maisie who are waiting for specialist equipment.

£250 could provide a family with access to a range of autism workshops delivered by the experienced clinical team at the Caudwell International Children's Centre to provide practical advice, support and information following diagnosis.
