Story
When Pete first suggested the Lakeland 50, we both laughed hysterically, alcohol fuelled and Pete later admitted it had been in jest.
However, the seed was sown and after a little research, I came to the conclusion why not ... We love hill walking and we, (well I do,) love running. We just need to combine the two.... right ?!
So, I went back to Pete with my plan. He looked slightly aghast, but he’s a cinch to persuade, so readily agreed.
We were fortunate enough to get a charity entry place, the charity being Epic Kidz. This is a small, but incredibly worthy charity, so please donate generously.
We have 24 hrs to complete 50 miles, (80.5 Km,) taking in 2965m of ascent and 3069m of descent across the Cumbrian fells. The elevation climbed is more than 3 times the height of England's highest peak, Scafell Pike.
