Story

For my friends and family that aren't 'horsey' - I have joined a challenge called 'Wobbleberries', this is a (large) group of slightly wimpy, older riders determined to compete in a BE80 One-Day Event competition by the end of October next year to raise money for the Willberry Wonder Pony Cancer charity that was set up but an inspirational young lady, Hannah Francis, who sadly lost her battle with cancer earlier this summer.

When I was Hannah's age, it was my dream to compete at BE level. Life and starting a family put things on hold and for over 12 years I barely sat on a horse. As my daughter became more and more involved in riding I realised it was time I got back into it myself and decided just over a year ago it was time to get myself a horse I could ride. I was persuaded to go and see a 3 year old, ex racehorse, Loki, which I ended up buying for completely inappropriate reasons (he was really pretty)! It wasn't until I started re-training him that I discovered that the long break from riding had taken a huge toll on my confidence and the last 7 months have been a battle for me.

So I have set myself up in this challenge to push myself through these demons and achieve my long forgotten dream and compete at this level - who knows I might even end up enjoying myself.

So please donate to this amazing charity.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
