Story

** UDPATE 18/2/19 **

Our latest cat in need was rescued as a stray on Valentine's Day. He is a very poorly boy indeed, we thought he was going to but put to sleep on Friday but we have to give him the best chance possible. His feet are open sores, which is just awful, one of his toes has already rotted because of the infection. He has tested positive for FIV, but that doesn't have to be the end of his life - if we can get him better, he can live the rest of his years as an indoor cat. We suspect this is why he was abandoned, poor boy. He's incredibly loving and affectionate, so we are doing absolutely everything we can to get him better. We have a JustGiving page for cases just like him and we really appreciate every one of you who has messaged to ask how you can help x

** UDPATE 4/2/19 **

Kitten season has certainly started early at Cats Protection Fareham. In January our team rescued five kittens who were dumped in a country lane and February has started with a mum and her four two-week old kittens in our care.  Mum is doing an amazing job of caring for them, despite her being full of worms and fleas herself when she came to us.  She has had the veterinary treatment she needed, along with little Eddy who needs treatment for a nasty eye infection.  The poor little scrap's eyes were firmly stuck tight when he came to us, we believe he had never opened them, because he had not received the basic of care.

We can't thank you enough for your support, we couldn't do this without you

PLEASE DON'T FORGET THE CATS IN NEED THIS CHRISTMAS!

** UPDATE 9/12/18 **

Wilson, who is 5 months old, came into us this week and, like Eliza, is an urgent and special case.

Wilson didn't have a great start to life, he was sold on Gumtree as a 12w old kitten, but was in fact just 5w old. Then, a few weeks later he suffered a broken leg when he fell from a 2nd floor window. That hasn't healed properly and is now causing problems, as he is growing, with his knee coming out of joint.

So, with our amazing friends at Heathside Veterinary Surgery we are going to be helping Wilson, who is going to need a very expensive surgery when he has grown a little. Until then, he will be rested and given lots of love.

How can you help? Our Christmas appeal will raise the much-needed funds for his surgery. If you can even spare £2, we can give Wilson the quality of life that he deserves.

You can follow Wilson's journey over the coming months on his very own Facebook page @WilsonTheWonderful

Thank you so much x

Our Story;

So many cats and kittens have come in to our branch. this year and each one comes with its own sad story. Each one costs a minimum of £250 to have all the necessary vet checks, vaccinations, worming, flea treatments and vital health checks... and these are the lucky ones who require no further treatment.

Then there are the really awful stories, which we don't want to dwell on at Christmas, but as you can imagine it's an incredibly busy time of the year for us and those sad tales of neglect and abandonment don't stop for the holiday season.

We are all volunteers, working tirelessly and often around the clock to care for the cats and kittens that come to us. Every cat matters and is given the highest standard of care to ensure it has the best chance of a good life in a loving, forever home.

We receive no government funding and rely heavily on the kindness of the public to help us. We would be so grateful if you could spare just a couple of pounds, or whatever you can, no amount is too large or small and every penny goes towards helping local cats and kittens in our care.

If you can just donate the price of a cup of coffee, £2.50 - we can feed a kitten for a day, or

  • £5 - worming treatment
  • £10 - worming and flea treatment
  • £15 - microchip
  • £25 - veterinary health check
  • £50 - full vaccination
  • £50 - neutering

These costs do not take into account litter, laundry, cat care, and any other veterinary treatment required! And EVERY PENNY you donate goes straight to caring for the little ones in our care

Thank you to every single person who has supported us this year,  your generosity is invaluable to these little ones and we can never thank you enough xx
