In 2020 a group of 18 children were looking forward to a health respite break in Mid Suffolk at the beginning of July . 

Covid 19 stopped this and they were not able to travel.

In addition they had to cope with the terrible effect of Covid 19 in Belarus, a country whose President denied the existence of the virus and the terrible consequences t hat followed affected everyone.For the older generations, Chernobyl was a "lockdown" situation they hoped never to see again in their lifetimes but Covid 19 felt as if they revisited this terrible time again.

The children live in an area of Belarus still suffering from the after effects of the Chernobyl disaster which took place over 30 years ago but has still had a massive impact on the environment and the people of Belarus. 

Our Hosts give their time free of charge and look after the children as part of their family whilst they are here. We try to support them by providing various items that are essential for the children. The things we need are not in themselves massively expensive but when you add everything together for a group this size you can see how it mounts up. On top of  the cost of air fares each child has to have a Visa now costing more than 110.00 per passenger plus we obviously have to fund all of the activities for the month that are not provided by sponsors and pay to bring our interpreters.

If you can contribute to purchase even one of the items on the list we would be so so very grateful as every penny we save will go towards bringing another child. We are also always very grateful for donations of good quality 2nd hand clothing and shoes for ages 3 to 16; school stationary and of course all of the items listed below. Goods can be donated via our Charity Shop in Needham Market or if local it is sometimes possible to arrange collection.
