Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During my year as Chairman of North Kesteven District Council I've chosen to support Lincolnshire's St Barnabas Hospice as my nominated charity.

It is a terrific cause that touches on so many people's lives and helps them through at the most critical and important times.

On Wednesday March 1 - Ash Wednesday -I will spend a day with NKDC's excellent, efficient and very effective refuse crew; getting really hands on with everything they do: emptying bins, delivering and repairing them, collecting fly-tipping and dealing with bulky waste.

I thought Ash Wednesday was as good a day as any to do my penance and empty what we used to call 'ash cans'.

Every day North Kesteven District Council’s 40-odd bin collectors handle between 1,000 and 1,200 bins each, walking an average of 10 miles in the process. So, you can imagine how fit I need to be.

Over and above that there are the drivers and the broader waste and street scene team who do so much to deliver a critical service and keep our District so clean, green and pleasant.

Always keen to learn tricks and muck in, I'm training hard for a full day of work: determined to do my best.

So please support me along the way...
