Story
Oyam Memorial Hall Project, in conjunction with The Pahar Trust Nepal, will build a Memorial hall at an existing school in Oyam, Panchthar. It is to mark and remember the great sacrifices made by both the families and soldiers from this remote area of East Nepal, nestling under the mighty Himalayan range and bordering India. They served in both the British, Indian and Nepalese military, we strongly feel that the unfailing support and sacrifice given over many years by those who served and members of the community and which continues today, should be remembered.
In brief, the Memorial Hall will comprise of hostel accommodation, a computer room and a public Library.
The hostel accommodation will save many children up to 4-5 hours of walking each day, in all conditions, to and from school. The computer room and library will provide c500 children and the community the access to educational books and software that will give them a chance at a better life and a better future.
Costs and Funding: the initial costs of the building is estimated at c£232,000.00. We are seeking funding from a variety of sources, including charitable organisations, trusts and individual donors, however, we do need more. The Pahar Trust Nepal (PTN) have very generously agreed to be our partner in the project and all donations will be channeled through PTN.
Any donations, big or small, will help.
Thank you in advance.
