Story

WELL MUCH TO OUR SURPRISE AND NO DOUBT MANY OF YOU WE ACTUALLY MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE NOTRE-DAME DE REIMS!!!

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND MET SOME WONDERFUL PEOPLE.

YOUR SUPPORT AND DONATIONS HAVE BEEN MUCH APPRECIATED.

First of all thanks for visiting this page and for the time you will spend reading this information. Most of all thanks for your donations.

Well for those who know the team, time has not been kind and we have found ourselves raising funds for charity following the loss of close family members and friends from cruel diseases that little is known about.

The latest blow came in 2007 when Mark's dad Richard was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

A man who worked hard all his life and gave much time to others including many years in support of Scouting where amongst many other things he contributed a significant amount of time to the building of the current Group Head Quarters of a local scout group.

So soon after retirement to be struck down with the debilitating disease was a very cruel blow.

This has to be a big challenge for five unfit chaps to cycle from London to Reims in the Champagne region of France, in just four days. We will need to put in many hours training and cut out on the trips to the pub.

Doing nothing useful for a whole day is a right old earner

Well we had a great day doing nothing. Thanks to those who sponsored us for nothing! We used our own money to bet on a few races at Ascot and will be putting all winnings (small) towards our total.

I just hope we can work off all the lard that we had with our fried slice and beer/wine/gin we drank in the aid of such a worthwhile cause.

STOP PRESS!!!

We have suffered a bit of a set-back. Andy has sustained a nasty back injury and will not be able to ride.

Good news is that Don has really got stuck into training having been on a world tour until recently. Seems he may have been fitter than we gave him credit for.

STOP STOP PRESS!!!

The holiday season has seen some solo training, which David says he is quite acostom to! Just three weeks to go until the big event and our fundraising efforts are spreading wider as we still have a little gap to reach our anticip[ated total. Please donate asap!

STOP STOP STOP PRESS!!!

On advice from his doctor Don has pulled out at the last minute. Something he is clearly not used to. Final body punishment for the remaining three continues with a ride in the pouring rain, thanks to Keith for the support and the advice to stop for a pint.

So only a few days until we leave for the challenge.

Look out for some welcome home parties and final fundraising.
