Story

*** UPDATE ***

The crossing has been postponed until after the Easter holiday - there was unfortunately no wind during the week we had planned. The new date will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone for the support we've had so far - we're really chuffed with the amount we've raised so far and are almost half way towards reaching our ambitious targets!

PLEASE give generously to both this page and the RNLI page! (http://www.justgiving.com/Channelcrossing2).

A group of 7 students from Cardiff University Kitesurfing Club are putting their kitesurfing skills and endurance levels to the test by kitesurfing across the Bristol Channel!

The event will be held between the 1st - 14th April, with the exact date confirmed when wind reports are released nearer the time.

The 9-mile trip, starting at Penarth, Cardiff, and finishing at Weston Super Mare, will see the group facing waves, ships, strong winds and debris. Safety boats will accompany the group, with the event supported by Cardiff University, the RNLI, and the British Kitesurfing Association.

Money raised from the event will be split between two charities: The MS Society and RNLI.

The MS Society is a charity particularly close to the heart of CUKC since one of its members suffers from the disease. The MS Society is the UK's largest charity dedicated to supporting everyone whose life is touched by MS. It provides respite care, a freephone MS Helpline, grants for home adaptations and mobility aids, education and training, MS specialist nurses and a wide range of information. Local branches cater for people of all ages and interests and are run by people with direct experience of MS. The MS Society also funds over 50 vital MS research projects in the UK.

Donations from this page will go directly to the MS Society. Please also donate to our RNLI fundraising page: (http://www.justgiving.com/Channelcrossing2)
