Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation

The Ectopic Pregancy Foundation (EPF) is a charity organisation set up by a group of National Health Service (NHS) doctors to help give advice about this distressing condition that affects up to 1 in 100 pregnancies. We provide advice for both the medical profession and the general public, in the form of the website and a 24 hour telephone advice line. The EPF needs funds to support its activity and ambitions. Funding is required for hosting the website, providing the 24 hour patient helpline, mailshots to A&E departments, equipment to train gynaecologists in managing ectopic pregnancies and administrative support to run the organisation. All the trustees, faculty and international resident advisors are honorary and receive no financial reward and give their time freely. We do not have any governmental support. Mr Laurie Montgomery Irvine, founder and honory chief executive.

Story

I have chosen Ectopic Pregnancy charity as it means sooo much to me on a personal level.  On 15th September 2008 I found out I was pregnant, at 4 weeks, 5.5 weeks later after blood tests every 48 hours, scans daily, daily checks, I was told I had miss- miscarried and had to have tablets to help the process, so of to hospital I went where I was monitored for the day. 1 week later after thinking it was finished, I was rushed to hospital in agony using gas & air to be rushed straight into emergency surgery not knowing what was going on. 6 hours later I woke up with a c- section cut on my stomache. I later found out they tried to do key hole surgery to find out that the baby was too big in my tube, & my tube had erupted so my tube was took away and my baby too by section. If it was left any longer I could of died they said!  I am raising money to help prevent others going through this ordea.l I had to deal with with this for 7 weeks, 7 weeks of them telling me it was NOT an ectopic, to nearly losing my life. By fundraising for  this charity it helps hospitals, doctors and gives support in identifying the signs early on, my situation could of been prevented or caught on earlier on within the pregnancy and it could of been dealt with more effcetively. I am hoping by raising lots of money this will help to do exactly that for future people.

Thank you for your donation, every penny goes to such a great cause and I am very very grateful xxx
